Direct flights to Jeddah and Madinah, or cheaper one-stop routes through the Gulf. We compare fares, baggage and travel time for your dates and book the airline that fits your family best.

The airline you choose affects more than the price. It decides whether you land in Jeddah or Madinah, how long your parents spend in the air, how much luggage and Zamzam you can bring home, and whether you face a long transit at 3am in a Gulf airport. For a family, those details matter as much as the fare.
From Islamabad International Airport, pilgrims have two broad choices: a direct flight of around five and a half hours, or a one-stop flight through a hub such as Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah. Direct flights save time and stress. One-stop flights can save money, especially outside Ramadan and school holidays.
Every Trip Tasia Umrah package includes a return air ticket, and you can also book the ticket on its own. Either way, we show you the options side by side before you decide.
| Route | Airlines flying direct | Approx. flight time |
|---|---|---|
| Islamabad (ISB) to Jeddah (JED) | PIA, Saudia, airblue, AirSial | About 5 hours 40 minutes |
| Islamabad (ISB) to Madinah (MED) | PIA, Saudia | About 5 hours 20 minutes |
Schedules and frequencies change through the season, so we check live availability for your dates. Islamabad to Madinah has fewer weekly flights than Jeddah, so book early if you want to start your trip in Madinah.
Pakistan’s national airline has long-standing Umrah routes from Islamabad to both Jeddah and Madinah. Many families like the familiar service, halal meals and Urdu-speaking crew, and PIA accepts the official 5-litre Zamzam bottle as an extra piece on its Saudi routes.
Saudi Arabia’s national carrier flies direct from Islamabad to Jeddah and Madinah and is one of the most-used airlines on the Jeddah route. Saudia is known for a generous baggage policy and accepts Zamzam from Jeddah and Madinah as an extra item.
These Pakistani private carriers operate direct services to Jeddah and are often competitive on price. Baggage allowances depend on the fare type, so we confirm the allowance on your ticket before you pay.
Connecting flights can bring the fare down, offer more departure times, and are useful when direct flights are full. The trade-off is a longer journey, which matters for elderly travellers and young children.
Via Dubai. Comfortable long-haul service and frequent connections to Jeddah and Madinah. Zamzam usually carried as a free extra piece.
Via Doha. Reliable connections and a modern hub. Zamzam generally accepted as an extra piece from Jeddah and Madinah.
Abu Dhabi. A good alternative when Dubai and Doha flights are busy.
Low-cost options via Dubai and Sharjah. Fares can be attractive, but check what baggage is included in the fare you choose.
Via Bahrain and Muscat. Useful backup routes in peak season.
Pakistan’s low-cost carrier flies direct from Islamabad to Riyadh and from Lahore to Jeddah, handy for flexible itineraries.
Tip: on a one-stop route, book everything on one ticket. If your connection is delayed, the airline is responsible for rebooking you, and your bags (and Zamzam tag) are checked through to Islamabad.
Choose Jeddah if you want to perform Umrah first. Because Jeddah lies inside the Miqat boundary, you must be in Ihram before your plane crosses the Miqat. From Jeddah airport, Makkah is roughly an hour to an hour and a half by road. Jeddah has more flights, so fares are usually lower.
Choose Madinah if you want a gentler start. You spend your first days at Masjid an-Nabawi without Ihram, then put on Ihram at the Miqat of Dhul Hulayfah (Masjid ash-Shajarah) on the road to Makkah. Many families with elderly parents prefer this order. Flights are fewer, so seats go quickly.
A popular combination is to land in Madinah and fly home from Jeddah, or the reverse. We can book this “open-jaw” ticket and arrange the matching transport between the two cities.
If you land in Jeddah, you need to enter Ihram before the aircraft passes the Miqat. Most pilgrims from Islamabad do this the easy way:
Men can keep Ihram cloth in their hand baggage and change at the airport if they prefer. Women wear their normal modest clothing. If you land in Madinah first, you do not need Ihram on the flight at all.
Bringing Zamzam home is a tradition for almost every family, and it is also where many pilgrims run into trouble at the check-in desk. Here is what you need to know:
Checked baggage allowances differ between airlines and fare types, from around 20 kg on some economy fares to 2 pieces on others. We write your exact allowance on your booking so you can pack with confidence.
Such as Ramadan, Eid and school holidays where possible.
And months ahead for Ramada
By a day or two; mid-week flights are often cheaper.
If nobody in your group needs the shortest journey
Groups travelling together can sometimes get group fares on the same flight. Ask us when you have 10 or more passengers. To see how the ticket fits into your total budget, read our Umrah cost from Islamabad guide.
Remember that your Umrah visa is linked to your flight booking reference (BRN). If you change your flight after the visa is issued, the BRN must be updated; see the charges on our Umrah visa page.
Send us your travel dates, the number of adults, children and infants, and whether you prefer Jeddah or Madinah. We reply with two or three options showing the airline, timings, stops, baggage and total fare. Once you choose, we issue the e-ticket and send it to you on WhatsApp and email.
Need more than a ticket? Add a hotel from our Umrah hotels guide or see every service on our Umrah services page. For tickets to other destinations, visit our online flight booking page.
PIA, Saudia, airblue and AirSial operate direct flights from Islamabad to Jeddah. The flight takes about 5 hours 40 minutes. Schedules change through the year, so check availability for your dates.
There is no single best airline. PIA and Saudia are popular for direct flights and Zamzam allowance; Emirates and Qatar Airways are good one-stop choices; low-cost carriers suit light travellers on a budget. The best choice depends on your dates, budget and who is travelling.
If you land in Jeddah, wear Ihram before boarding or on the plane and make your intention when the crew announces the Miqat. If you land in Madinah first, you put on Ihram later at Dhul Hulayfah on the way to Makkah.
For an Umrah visa you need a confirmed return ticket, so one-way tickets are not normally used for Umrah trips from Pakistan.
Your flight booking reference (BRN) must be updated in the visa system, which carries a small charge. Airline change fees depend on your fare rules.
